Sanguine Art is a dark and vampiric-based fighting style that is obtainable in the Third Sea.

Sanguine Art's life leech, decently easy-to-hit moves, and immense combo potential make it one of the best fighting styles for general use, with its main competitors being Godhuman, and Electric Claw.

Obtainment

Sanguine Art can be learned from Shafi, who can be found in a base linked by a tunnel near the Island Boys, located at the Tiki Outpost.

To purchase Sanguine Art from Shafi, the player must:

  1. Give a Leviathan Heart to Shafi.
  2. Then has to additionally get:
  3. A final prompt will ask the player to pay $ 5,000,000 and f 5,000. Once complete, the player will obtain Sanguine Art.

A video guide on how to obtain Sanguine Art can be found here.

Normal Attack
Sanguine Art M1
The user summons dark energy that has moderate range, first doing a slash to the left with right hand, a slash to the right with left hand, then doing a double slash with both hands, ending with a forward blast of darkness. The click speed is very fast, similar to Water Kung Fu's. If it is paired with Buddha, it will have greatly increased range.

SanguineArtZ
The user propels themself towards the cursor and then immediately grabs the enemy by the neck. If it hits, it unleashes bat-like creatures on target that heal the player as they deal damage. If it doesn’t hit, then the user will travel a short-medium distance. When hit, it ignores defensive buffs. This move heals 20% of the user's health when hit. This healing does not depend on the amount of damage the user deals ‐ it heals based on the MAX health the user has. This move is similar to Shadow's [C] ability.

SanguineArtX
The user launches six claw-like slashes towards the cursor (similar to Dragon (West)'s [X] Infernal Pincer and Dragon's third base M1), leaving claw marks on the surrounding floor or walls in front of the user. Explodes into a scarlet burst at the end. Does greater damage when used from a certain distance.
  • If aimed at the ground, while an enemy is far:
    • The burst will bounce enemies back towards user.
  • If aimed at the ground, while an enemy is close:
    • The claws will push enemies back.

This move possesses two distinct variations:
  • If hit:
    • Launches a dark red blast (resembling a leech) at the cursor pulling enemies in, and then summons five energy balls to spawn around the target and then attack them. It also splits into more "Leeches" based on how many enemies are getting hit. This skill can disable the enemy's Dashes, Flash Step, and moves for ~1,2 seconds. If stunning enemies in the air, it will increase stun duration by ~0,2%. The effects is similar to the Venom Bow [X] Serpent Bite.
    • If not hit:
      • Creates a sphere of darkness which hovers in the air before exploding. If anyone stands within the radius of the ball, they will be dealt some damage, and at the same time, a leech will be created that chases the target within said radius. If there’s no one within its range, then the ball will simply dissipate.

    Overview

    Pros
    General
    • Amazing for grinding, Raids and Sea Events due to the long range and life steal moves. If the player combines Sanguine Art with a V4 Race, especially Angel and Ghoul, they can completely solo Raid by spamming M1 without needing Buddha or many people to participate, but their level must be high.
    • High damage.
    • All moves can break Instinct.
    • Good combo potential.
    • All moves hit Sea Beasts.
    • None of moves shake the screen.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Faster than most fighting styles.
    • No delay on hits.
    • More range compared to other fighting styles.
    • Slight knockback to opponents.
    [Z] Bloodbane Drain
    • Good hitbox, and if the user misses, they may still hit the opponent.
    • Will always heal the same amount even if it does less damage.
    • Low end-lag.
    • Good range in general.
    • Can damage Sea Beast while this move being single-target unlike other single-target moves.
    [X] Scarlet Tear
    • Medium range.
    • Can fling enemies towards or away if used properly.
    [C] Devourer of Worlds
    • Auto aims if it misses.
    • Does unavoidable damage if it does a direct hit.
    • Brings players toward the user upon a direct hit, allowing for high combo potential.
      • Great alternative for Spikey Trident [X] (Flying Trident Pull) and Trident [Z] (Trident Throw) in close range.

    Cons
    General
    • Hard to get due to needing to spawn the Leviathan and needing the Beast Hunter boat in order to obtain the Leviathan Heart as well as requiring the player to get a lot of very difficult to obtain materials.
    • Some moves have short range compared to other fighting styles.
    • Moves are not that good with Buddha due to its attacks primarily forcing forward.
    • Very poor mobility when compared to other fighting styles.
    • High mastery requirements.
    [Z] Bloodbane Drain
    • Single target.
    • Stuns the user in place while using the move, allowing enemies to damage the user.
    [X] Scarlet Tear
    • Smaller range radius compared to other fighting styles.
    • Strong discarding, which prevents the continuation of some combos.
    • Slight endlag, easy to punish if missed.
    • May be hard to land if far away.
    [C] Devourer of Worlds
    • Slightly long cooldown.
    • High endlag, making the user vulnerable to attacks if missed.
    • The dark orb is easily avoided as the orb has delay before the initial explosion, rendering this move easily evadable at longer ranges.

    Trivia

    • The first part of the name "Sanguine Art" comes from the Latin word for blood, sanguis.
    • Sanguine Art is the first fighting style to have a life-stealing move. ([Z] move - Bloodbane Drain)
      • Likewise, the bats can damage large objects (Such as Sea Beasts), but it does not restore the user's health or grab.
      • Additionally, this move features aim assist that enables the user to grab enemies within the attack path directly ahead, provided they are at a close enough distance. This effectively extends the range for grabbing enemies to approximately 1.6 times farther along the straight line in front of the move.
    • The [C] move is a multi-target move, meaning it can grab multiple targets at the same time if directly used.
      • Even if it misses, it can still track multiple enemies.
    • Sanguine Art is the fighting style with the fastest M1 speed.
    • Sanguine Art is the fighting style with the highest [C] move damage in the game.
    • The player is not required to have mastery on any other fighting style to learn Sanguine Art. It is possible to learn even if the user is still using Combat.
    • Haunted Crew Member, Red Commander, and ghost v NPCs (ghost v NPCs only when user has Sanguine Art equipped) are the only NPCs/enemies in the game that uses this fighting style
    • If combining Skull Guitar's [X] move, Ghoul Mask, Ghoul V4 Blood Siphon (tier 2), night time, and using the [Z] move, the player's life-leech can reach ~47-50%.
    • Sanguine Art, alongside Combat, are the only fighting styles without an upgraded (or downgraded) version of them.
    • If the player has a Leviathan Heart and interact with Shafi, their materials (if they have them) will be consumed automatically, even if they didn't wish to.
    • There is a glitch where after using [C] Devourer of Worlds, the user will be stuck in the move stance. This can be undone by using the [C] move again.
