Race Awakening, also known as Race V4, is a way for players to upgrade their race from V3 to gain specific buffs related to their race. Race Awakening can help players turn the tables in desperate PvP situations, grind more efficiently, travel faster, etc.
Race Awakening grants the player new abilities related to the race that greatly buffs the player's damage and defense after completing specific quests, puzzles, and trials, depending on the players Race.
Each Race Awakening provides the user unique abilities that enhance their mobility, reduce their cooldown, boost their defense, attacks, speed, etc, depending on the player's Race.
Requirements
- Third Sea access.
- Any type of Race V3.
- Defeated rip_indra True Form at least once.
- Completed Sealed King Quest.
- 1 Mirror Fractal (Obtained from Dough King).
- Has the Blue Gear on Mirage Island.
- 3 or more total players, each with different Races at V3 or more, and have also met the requirements above.
- Completed the training task from Ancient One. (If the player has V4 already unlocked, otherwise, the player can not access the trials.)
Guide
Unlock Trials:
- The player must head to the Castle on the Sea. There, they have to locate the stone tablet where King Red Head is trapped (behind the Rip_indra true form arena). After interacting with the tablet, the player will be told, "Here lies King Red Head... Perhaps one day, he'll be released from his mental prison." (If the player hasn't killed the rip_indra boss).
- After the previous procedure, the player should head to the Great Tree and travel to the top of the tree. An invisible NPC named "MISC." will be visible to the player. The player will have to talk to the NPC, and will be teleported to the Temple of Time.
- Then, the player will have to head down the hall and talk to the second NPC, which will result in the player teleporting back to the previous NPC. After this, the player will have to go back to the Sealed King (tablet). He will show the player the message "That place may hold the key to a greater power, but you must undergo a trial to grab hold of it. Powers involving time always work best under the light of a full moon."
- The player needs a Mirror Fractal in order to be able to complete this step: After this, the player will have to find a Mirage Island and stand atop the highest peak of Mirage Island. The player will have to activate the race ability during night time. After the activation of the player's Race's ability, they will have to stare at the moon for a few seconds. If the player is on mobile, they will have to leave a finger touching the moon on their screen (Note that: this does not require a Full Moon after Update 19 (Valentine's Update of Blox Fruits). Then, the player will be shown the message "Your Mirror Fractal has resonated with the moon." at the top of their screen, and the moon will start emitting a flashing light. Then, the player will have to look for a Blue Gear that has spawned somewhere on Mirage Island and touch it. The gear glows brightly and has a light blue color. The gear will despawn when the night ends.
- After following the previous procedures, the player will have to head to the Temple of Time. Instead of going forward to the Mysterious Force NPC, the player will have to turn left to the empty hallway. Then, they need to face the right wall and go upwards. Over there, they will see a lever near the entrance, which is to be interacted with and pulled. Once the player is able to pull the lever, they do not need to repeat all these steps when changing to a different race.
Unlocking Race Awakening:
- The player will have to wait for a Full Moon, as well as gathering two other players with different Races. All three players must stand in front of their respective race trial doors. If someone is the same race as another player, the trial gates won't open.
- Once all players are ready and the full moon has peaked through the clouds, all three players must activate their Race's abilities in front of the trial doors at the same time to open them.
- Once the door has opened, the player needs to enter and finish the trial within the given time. The trial is different for each Race.
- After all three players have finished their trials, they must battle each other.
- The last player standing will then have to follow the glowing orb to Ancient Clock.
- The player will have to interact with the orb, and then interact with Ancient Clock.
- The final step is to place the first gear in the slot.
- After completing all of the previous steps, the player will unlock Race Awakening. Once the player is ready, they can unlock and upgrade their skills/passives by training and doing more trials.
Unlocks First Ability: Transformation Lasts Longer
To activate the second trial, the player must talk to the Ancient One and upgrade their awakening by training.
The player must activate their Race Awakening 3 times and/or be in awakened form for 3 minutes before being able to do the second trial. To activate their Race Awakening, the player must fill up their meter bar by receiving and dealing damage. The bar will charge up much faster when receiving and dealing damage to players compared to NPCs, though at a risk of both players dying.
1 | Around 3 minutes (3 times activating) | 1,000 | Energy Training Tier 1 |
After completing the training and giving 1,000 to the Ancient One, the player will now be able to attempt the second trial.
Progress is saved even if the player leaves the game, so they should not worry about losing their progress.
Unlocks an Ability or Upgrades Unlocked Ability. Awakening Lasts Longer
To activate the third trial, the player must talk to the Ancient One and upgrade their awakening by training.
1 | Around 5 minutes (5 times activating) | 1,500 | Energy Training Tier 2 |
After completing the training and giving 1,500 to the Ancient One, the player will now be able to attempt the third trial.
Unlocks an Ability or Upgrades Unlocked Ability. Transformation Lasts Longer
Once the player has finished the third trial, the player needs to complete three training lessons and receive upgrades before attempting the final trial. You are able to participate in a trial, but not obtain another gear. After obtaining this stage, transforming now takes less time, from around 2 seconds to almost instantly when the player clicks the [Y] key.
1 | Around 4 minutes | 2,000 | Energy Training Tier 3 |
2 | Around 5 minutes | 2,250 | Energy Training Tier 4 |
3 | Around 10 minutes | 2,500 | Energy Training Tier 5 |
This stage costs a total of 6,750.
After finishing the lessons, the player can now participate in the fourth and final trial, and then join said trials at any time.
Only up to four trials are required to unlock every ability. However, completing another trial will allow the player to enter the Ancient Clock and change the gears every time. This has been proven by the community to be an intentional feature and not a glitch. It is important to note that the bonus is only exclusive to the race where you did the 5th trial.
Awakening Lasts Longer
Once the player has finished the trials, they need to complete five training lessons to maximize their awakening.
Each lesson requires a specific number of transformations, and the cost increases every time.
Stage 5's purpose is to increase the duration of your transformations, as well as the speed at which your meter fills up. Fully maxing out your transformation extends the duration of the player's Race Awakening to approximately 1 minute and 50 seconds (without taking or dealing damage).
Once the player reaches this stage, their transformation will be faster.
This stage costs a total of 17,500.
After all upgrades are complete, the Ancient One will say:
"It seems you've made this power your own. I've done all I can for you."
- To fully awaken a race, the player needs a total of 26,750.
- Making the moon shine on Mirage Island no longer requires a full moon. However, night time is still required.
- The player does not need to find Blue Gear multiple times for different Races' trials, this is the same with Mirror Fractal not needing to be obtained multiple times for each race.
- Trials can still be completed even if it is a Blue Moon.
- The duration of one Race Awakening is around one minute, provided that the player does not get hit or hit anything.
- Only one player can awaken or unlock/upgrade their gear per trial. Players can take the trials multiple times if they are not disturbed during training.
- The player can activate their Race Awakening by pressing the [Y] key on their keyboard, after filling up the V4 bar.
- Race Awakening cannot be activated while being transformed (ex: Transformed Buddha).
- After the last trial, the player will place the last gear on the Ancient Clock, the third gear out of four. That is the maximum amount of gear a player can get per Race.
- The player can only have one gear on tier 2, the other one will have to remain at Tier 1.
- After completing the last stage (stage 5), the user can redo a trial(difficulty remains the same as stage 5). Once completed, the user will gain access to Ancient Clock forever and can change their last gear as desired. The user can change the last gear once each time they enter a server. In general, this last step is simply unlocking the ability to change the last gear to the player's liking.
- The player can participate trials freely after getting stage 4. This mean they can get 5th stage of V4 without training. After getting 5th gear you still should train because it will make your V4 duration longer
- Players who are not in a trial will get kicked out from the Temple of Time once there is a trial happening in there.
Mirage Island is a hard island to find, and searching for the blue gear is really hard, so try these tips to increase your chance of success:
- When looking for Mirage Island, stay in Sea Danger Level 5. If you go to Sea Danger Level 6, the fog and excess of sea events will make it a struggle to find the Blue Gear. Stay in Sea danger level five and ignore all sea events except the Terrorshark, because it will only despawn once defeated or has killed every player in its range.
- Bring other players with you. One player has a 1% chance of spawning Mirage Island, however bringing more people along increases your chances.
- It would be wise to let other players who have not obtained the Blue Gear and have got the Mirror Fractal can join you, as the Blue Gear will be at the same place in Mirage Island per server, so they can help find it.
After finishing the trials, the player will have to fight with other players. Follow these tips to increase your chances of success:
- The player should try to run and stay safe until only the player in question and one other person are left. But you should make sure their V4 bar has not reached its maximum level. Otherwise, your fate will depend on the PvP abilities of those using V4.
- They should try to kill a weakened player if they are running away. However, if the weakened player is currently fighting someone else, the player shouldn't go for the kill as the other person may target the player next. The weakened player will be killed by them anyway, so doing it possesses no advantage for the player.
- The player should use ranged attacks, combos, and stuns to quickly end the fight.
- It is recommended to use any fruit/weapon that is good for PvP and has decent AoE, like Dough Buddha or Blizzard. Fruits like Dough should have the player somewhat experienced and high level, while Blizzard and Buddha can be used for spam/AoE.
- This is recommended for users who have a level of 2000 or higher.
- The player is suggested to not use high knockback moves, as they can knock players out of the map.
(Tested) Since the player needs a certain amount of time before doing the next trial, it's recommended to train and use the transformation with a partner for the equivalent of 15 minutes (15 transformations). And yes, the elapsed time is permanently saved, so the amount of transformation transfers over, or they could try to keep an awakening going for as long as they can, timed to however long they need. It is very likely that training doesn't count on how many times the player uses Race Awakening usage but rather how long they use it. This means that if they reset once you use awakening, the progress is little, while if they let it drain, it may count more. Although it is known that using the whole bar of awakening is much faster than resetting every usage, how much faster it is is currently unknown.
- Damaging players and receiving damage from players gains the rage meter much faster than from Enemies.
- Killing the Enemies from the Cursed Dual Katana Puzzle Room will unlock the awakening very quickly, and the player will be able to stay in the awakening indefinitely.
- This is similar to the previous tip, but requires the player to be present in the Chocolate Land or Candy Cane Land, the Buddha fruit (recommended to use the awakened version) and strong and fast Fighting Styles or Swords. The strategy is to run around a circle pattern and kill the NPCs by utilizing the large hitbox of the Buddha fruit. It might run out at some point in lower tiers, but it should be enough for the player to get the next upgrade.
- Dealing damage to a Sea Beast fills up the awakening bar as fast as dealing damage to players, unlike other NPCs. With this, a player that has achieved 10m+ Bounty/Honor can spawn their pet Sea Beasts and train their awakening faster.

Race V4 Passive/Abilities
Every time the player obtains their Race Awakening/obtains Race V4 on any race, they are unable to choose which gear they get (that is unless they do the trials again). Once the player places their first gear, they will be given Ancient Powers. The player will have to do the trials again in order to add the other gears. There are five gears the player needs to put in place in order to fully awaken their race, but they only need to do trials and win the battle four times. The fifth trial allows the player to access the Ancient Clock and change gears at any time. Once the player has completed every stage, the only way to change gears again is by doing another trial or rejoining the game.

Trivia
On December 31st, 2022, at 8:30 PM (PST), the race awakening "reveal" premiered. However, this has sparked widespread outrage in the community. Everything they did suggested that it wouldn't just be a showcase but would also reveal how to obtain V4. The community was, however, mistaken. Despite the fact that they called it a "release" and even included an in-game timer, leading people to believe there would be an in-game event, it was only a showcase. They went on to say in the description, "Race Awakenings will be released on January 6th in the evening (US time). Stay tuned for more information." This implies that Race Awakenings was never obtainable and that many players squandered their time attempting to obtain it. The day that it released, January 6th, 2023, is a real-life full moon.
If you look at the Update 17.3 trailer, we can see that some of the devs and admins after transforming, have no idle animation. This is the reason why in Update 17.3, there was no race awakening because it was still unfinished.Surprisingly, they updated the intervals at which the full moon occurs in Update 17 3.5 (Christmas 2022 Update). The first full moon dialogue: "The light of a full moon peaks through the clouds", occurs exactly 54 minutes and two seconds after a new server is created. For example, if you join a private server where no one else is present, the dialogue will occur 54 minutes and two seconds later. This full moon will end 11 minutes and 17 seconds after the dialogue begins, or one hour, five minutes, and 19 seconds after a new server is created. The full moon will be at its strongest, the highest, at one hour and 50 seconds in, or six minutes and 48 seconds after the full moon dialogue is initiated. This time can be used for theories.
The developers have added Race Awakenings to address the majority of the issues that players face during PvP, such as having to fight against other players teaming, running and jumping in during fights, or being ambushed while grinding. The Race Awakening provides a significant boost to the player, but it must be activated by dealing/receiving damage to fill up the awakening meter bar. (The player can activate their awakening by selecting the tool in the hot bar, then clicking their screen, or by pressing the keybind "Y").
The lone player will be able to deal more damage to teamers, charging the bar faster. Although the teamers can also use Race Awakening and can kill the player before they awaken. The runner will not be able to charge their bar because they will be busy running and not dealing damage, allowing the chaser to charge their bar completely first. The player who jumps in will be at a significant disadvantage because players who are fighting or grinding will have partially charged up their bar, giving them an advantage. As of the Valentine's Event, players are now able to resonate with the moon on a Mirage Island, despite the moon not being a Full Moon, meaning you are able to resonate with the moon during any of its phases. A bug causing low-level mobs and bosses to give an immense amount of transformation energy is also patched during Update 19.
- It takes 91 minutes of transforming or 91 transformations to complete the training, meaning it will take 546 minutes of Transforming (9.1 hours of transforming) or 546 Transformations to complete training for all races (91 minutes per race).
- To fully awaken a race, the player needs to pay 26,750 for 1 race, and 160,500 for all 6 races. (Human, Rabbit, Shark, Angel, Ghoul, and Cyborg)
- After the Race V4 update was just released, there was a bug that made the user awaken their race faster instead of damaging other players or do the things above. By returning to First Sea and grinding the Bandits, the race meter will increase for just a moment. This bug was patched not long after.
- If the player holds a move during the countdown, the move would activate after the countdown ends, allowing the player to use moves and abilities such as Flash Step. This could be helpful in hard trials such as Cyborg because the player can Flash Step outside the box in Cyborg trials.
Change History
Released in Update 17.3
- Slightly decreased how long V4 transformations last and the rate at which the player gains race energy from other players.
- Race Awakening was released.
