The Leviathan is a Raid Boss.

Quick Answers

What is the only way to damage the Leviathan in the Frozen Dimension? toggle section
To inflict damage on the Leviathan in the Frozen Dimension, all three of its segments, must be destroyed before its main body or head. It's advised to use Magma or Flame, as Magma's Z, C, and V moves deal substantial damage. The use of Shark is also recommended to prevent Water damage.

How can the Leviathan be summoned in the Frozen Dimension? toggle section
Summoning the Leviathan in the Frozen Dimension requires a Sea Exploration Group of at least 5 players. The NPC must be spoken to, initiating a teleport to the Frozen Dimension and a cutscene that summons the Leviathan. The Frozen Watcher won't initiate the boss fight without the necessary player count at the Frozen Dimension's spawn time.

Summoning

The Leviathan can be summoned by the Frozen Watcher located at the Frozen Dimension.

Drops

All drops are guaranteed if the player has dealt at least 10% of the total damage to each Leviathan segment. Dealing more than 10% damage does not increase the number of Leviathan Scales obtained. Each segment typically drops 3 to 5 Leviathan Scales, with the total amount ranging from approximately 12 to 20 Scales depending on the number of segments destroyed and player participation. If the player fails to meet the 10% damage requirement, they will not receive any rewards from the Leviathan or its segments.

Leviathan

Behavior

The Leviathan has four segments (including its main body/head) and the main body will not take any damage unless all segments have been destroyed.

The Leviathan does not take damage from M1 attacks (except for the M1's of Dragon, Kitsune, Gas, Yeti, Tiger, Mammoth, Awakened Dough, Awakened Phoenix, Gravity and Explosive Guns) or single target attacks (except for the Magma X).

Abilities

Name Description Ability Notes How To Avoid
Snowstorm of Death
The Leviathan creates 2-3 thin but tall tornadoes that do not deal much damage but are able to stun players. Does not work in the air and lasts around 7 seconds. This ability has a small range but annoying stun. (Mainly does damage by trapping in water). Using flights or abilities can help the player dodge the tornadoes.
Cold Frostpiercer
The Leviathan roars with a large AoE, sending ice spears towards any nearby player. Upon hit, the player will freeze, get stunned, and knocked back. This ability deals damage mainly by pushing into the water. Can sometimes break Instinct. The player should not go near the head of the Leviathan. When it roars, check if the ice spears are going towards the player, and if correct, run away.
Sub-Zero Annihilation
This ability will show a red area around 5 seconds before the actual attack. The Leviathan will swipe its tail afterwards, launching ice and knocking back players by a lot. Being able to take advantage of the ice surface to regain Air Jump is also an effective way to avoid the attack. Get out of the red zone as soon as possible, since this move is very deadly if it lands and gets off the ground the player is standing on. Otherwise, the player will be hit. Skycamping in the red zone will not work.
Frostbite Dive
The Leviathan dives into the water and appears in another location near the player. The Leviathan will completely disappear underwater for several seconds and cannot be seen or damaged with any move by the player. This ability deals no damage, but it is recommended for players to get away from the Leviathan after it dives because it can spawn near the player again, and attack the player with other abilities.

Tips

  • The player cannot damage the Leviathan if they joined the fight after the cutscene has been triggered.
  • It is recommended to have one or more players to repair the boat with the Shipwright Subclass, so that it does not get destroyed for a long time.
  • Shark and Leviathan Shield are recommended to fight the Leviathan due to its defense against water damage to Blox Fruit users.
  • In case no one has a Beast Hunter, boats with high health should be used, not fast or fancy boats like The Sentinel or Miracle, but boats like the Lantern or Guardian. Although, if the player wants to get the Leviathan Heart, they will need the Beast Hunter boat.
  • It is not recommended for players to fully repair their boat before spawning the Leviathan. If the ship is damaged, repair it up to 2,000 health only. This ensures that the boat is confirmed to be returned to max health during the battle (The Leviathan cannot damage the boat).
  • It is highly recommended that the player has 5+ players in the group for maximum success rate in killing the Leviathan.
  • Players are recommended to find the boat (Beast Hunter) before finishing off the Leviathan since the Leviathan Heart only has around one minute lifespan and will despawn after not being harpooned.
  • If players have a hard time dealing damage to the segments, it is recommended to deal at least 18,750 damage to a segment and then target another one. This should help players maximize the Leviathan Scale drops that the player can get without wasting too much time on a single segment.
  • The Sea Exploration Group is recommended to consist of Yeti, Awakened Buddha and Awakened Magma users, with other great alternatives being Mammoth and Blizzard for maximum success rate in defeating the Leviathan.
  • If the player has the fruit that they chose to fight the Leviathan permanently alongside with permanent Light, they can switch to Light in order to catch up to their Sea Exploration Group in case they're lost.
  • The fighting styles that are recommended for the Leviathan are Sharkman Karate, Death Step, Dragon Talon and Sanguine Art, as they have good AoE and ranged moves. However, if the player wants the most effective fighting styles, the player should choose Sanguine Art or Sharkman Karate.
  • When using Buddha, equip Retribution Dash & Buddha Leap, for mobility and dodging.
  • If the player is using Buddha, it is recommended to use Saber V2 or Shark Anchor.
  • It is recommended for the driver to use the Kitsune Mask so they can avoid the rocks in danger zone 6.
  • Leviathan hunt groups are often the target of bounty hunters.
    • Players can wait in the Tiki Outpost's Safe Zone until they are ready to leave to avoid bounty hunters. Additionally, one member of the group may wear the Pale Scarf while hunting to watch for anyone chasing the boat. When returning, it is recommended to not drive too close to islands, as this may draw unwanted attention.

Notes

  • Upon entering the Frozen Dimension, the player's boat will fully recover its health back, and the Leviathan cannot deal damage to the boat.
  • If the player has summoned the Leviathan, they will need to defeat 20+ Sea Events (Piranhas/Sharks count as Sea Events) in order to bribe the Spy again.
  • The Leviathan Heart has a lifespan of 1 minute. To obtain this drop, the player has to use the harpoon from the Beast Hunter and bring it back to the Tiki Outpost. Upon doing so, the player should see it appear in their inventory. It is recommended for one and/or multiple players to search for the Beast Hunter as soon as the Leviathan's main segment reaches around 10% to 15% health. This way, the players will be able to harpoon the Leviathan Heart in time before it despawns.
  • If the player dies before/after the Leviathan has died, the player will not get the Leviathan Heart even if the player goes back to the boat after death (sometimes it will show the player the quest after they get back to the boat (Beast Hunter), but the Leviathan Heart will not be given to the player afterwards).
    • The player can still leave the boat as long as they do not die, but they will have to catch up to the boat again and get the quest before the heart gets delivered to Tiki Outpost in order to obtain it.
  • When all the Leviathan's segments have been destroyed, lightning will appear, which acts similar to Rough Sea, which makes the fight more difficult.
  • There is a glitch with Leopard's [X] move which sends the Leviathan's segment outside the red zone where the player fights the Leviathan.
  • The boat cannot be repaired after it has been used to defeat the Leviathan.
  • The Leviathan does not fill the Race Awakening bar as fast as Sea Beasts do.
  • There is a glitch where if Leviathan's tail hits the boat, the boat can leave the red zone, where the player fights against Leviathan.
  • There is a glitch where the last segment of Leviathan simply doesn't appear.
  • There is a glitch where sometimes the Leviathan will not take damage from destroying the segments of it and after destroying every segment it will still ask to destroy all the segment on hitting the Leviathan.
  • There is a glitch where sometimes all of the segments (without main part) will disappear.
  • There is a feature/glitch where after bribing the spy, the Leviathan disappears for some reason, which makes it so that you have to bribe it again for 6000 more fragments
  • You can also summon the Leviathan by catching a Levi(fish) whilst having the Curse of the Leviathan enchantment on your fishing rod, it is not recommended though as you will be alone against the Leviathan and will need to have a Beast Hunter brought somewhat close to the fight in order to catch the heart

Lore

The Leviathan is described by the Spy as a creature originating from primordial essence during a period of perpetual winter. It is said to have begun as a small whelping that remained submerged in the ocean’s deepest regions while the planet underwent a climatic transformation during the 10,000-year Solstice, which gradually ended the global winter. Over time, the Leviathan is believed to have developed cryokinetic abilities while coexisting with other deep-sea organisms. Following the emergence of the Red King, the Leviathan resurfaced, reportedly acting under the Red King's influence to refreeze the planet’s oceans.

Trivia

  • The Leviathan is the first enemy who has a cutscene of its appearance.
  • The Leviathan is currently the largest Raid boss/enemy in the game.
  • The Leviathan shares the same name with the title that is given to players upon obtaining Shark V4.
  • Two Leviathans cannot be spawned at once. The same applies for Frozen Dimension.
  • In Version 21.3 of Update 20, the Leviathan would not drop anything from its head/tail, although this bug was fixed in Version 22.0 of Update 20 in the Ghost Event.
  • When first released, the Leviathan had 887,500 health, which was later increased to 1,012,500 before being adjusted to the current 1,000,000. Its segments initially had 187,500 health, but were later changed to 350,000.
  • Instead of the Leviathan being spawned at the Frozen Dimension, it spawns behind Great Tree at Danger Level 4 and teleports all players in the Sea Exploration Group to it.
