Grants fox-like abilities, with amazing agility and blue fire-based attacks. Damage enemies to fully transform into the mythical Kitsune.
Description in Shop

Kitsune is a Mythical Beast-type Blox Fruit that costs $ 8,000,000 or R$ 4,000 from the Blox Fruit Dealer.

Kitsune grants the user the ability to conjure and manipulate blue fire into destructive attacks and allows them to transform into a creature in Japanese mythology, the Kitsune, enhancing their attacks significantly, and many abilities such as speed and the ability to walk on water, at the cost of some of their tails.

As of Update 26, Kitsune is the second rarest and second most expensive Blox Fruit, making it a very valuable asset to have in trading. In PvP, this fruit is one of the most abusable fruits in the game, as all attacks either have aim assistance or huge hitboxes, along with the absurdly high speed increase gained from transforming, allowing the user to run away across the ocean from fights to protect their bounty/honor.

Kitsune is an excellent choice for grinding in all three seas, being as good as, if not better than, Buddha in almost every aspect except for versatility, due to its [M1] attacks. Kitsune users can easily carry Raids and eliminate hostile Sea Events. However, low level players could struggle to meet the mastery requirements to unlock Kitsune's moves, and the [M1] attacks can be a bit annoying to use in open areas, due to its high knockback, though not as severe as Gas's [M1] attacks.

Abilities

Name Description Showcase
Kitsune Tails
Swift Tails
  • The user can gain tails passively as well as by dealing damage. The user can transform when the tail meter reaches 3 (the meter will turn rainbow when the user has max tails). The meter will decrease if the user uses an ability and misses (including Kitsune's M1s but less of a decrease than abilities). They also gain tails while dealing damage to a player/NPC.

Transformed Energy
  • After transforming, the user will slowly drain one third of the tail meter (doesn't passively drain) and will slowly drain if the user takes any type of damage (including lava and water). The user will not passively gain any tail meter while transformed and can only increase the meter by dealing damage with Kitsune (including Kitsune's tick damage).
Tails
  • 1 Tail: No known benefits.
  • 2 Tails: The user gets a speed boost (+100% [2x]) and a dash boost and now runs on all fours. (Air jumping, dashing, and walking will also now have a unique animation)
  • 3 Tails: The user gets three glowing orbs, when using [F] move or an M1, the enemy will deal tick damage by blue flames.

Note: This passive does not increase the user's damage in any ways.

Mythical Fox Fur
While transformed, the user gains a 20% damage reduction from all sources, improved attacks, faster speed, jump twice higher than average, and increased dash distance.
Clever Fox's Spirit
When transformed, the user gains the ability to run on Water, but they are not able to idle on it.
Kitsune Transformed Water Walking
Kitsune Mount
When transformed, the user can be mounted by another allied player, riding their saddle.

Normal Attack
+
Normal Attack
Kitsune M1A
Kitsune M1B
The user slashes the air, creating blue flame slashes. On the fourth slash, the user swipes in a whirlwind style. And with the last slash having two variations, on the ground the user swipes downwards, leaving a faint crack for a few moments, in the air the user kicks the opponent to the ground (Both variations deal the same amount of damage). Once at 3 tails, the slashes will inflict ticking damage and the opponent will be covered in blue flame for between 4-5 seconds and the base damage will increase too. Every slash drains the Tails meter by a bit. Jumping right before the slam will make the user perform a slash instead of a slam.

The user summons three blue fireballs and dashes forward. This move possesses two distinct variations:
    • If hit:
      • Targets up to 1-3 opponents, launching them backward and shooting a ball of blue flames per target (untransformed C is used), causing an explosion of blue flames as well as ticking damage.
    • If not hit:
      • The user will spin and launch a flurry of blue fireballs around them, causing a large AoE explosion.

    Overview

    Pros (Untransformed)
    General
    • Extremely high value in trading as it is the second rarest fruit to obtain, with the first being Dragon.
    • Great movement speed with three tails.
    • Passive can break Instinct.
    • High damage.
    • Long stuns.
    • Virtually all moves are AoE/multi-target, which, combined with the M1 attacks, gives Kitsune some of the best grinding capabilities in the game.
    • Greater for PvP compared to Transformed as the user can use other weapons and the moves are easier to hit.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Good range.
    • Great damage. Can deal up to 10k damage with 3 tails if all of the m1 combo hits while using a damage boosting accessory.
    • Fast cooldown between attacks.
    • Slight knockback.
    • Slight stun makes this useful as a close-range combo chainer.
    • Deals tick damage that can break Instinct when 3 tails are acquired.
    [Z] Accursed Enchantment
    • Decent AoE. (The explosion when a single target is hit can also deal damage to multiple enemies)
    • No endlag.
    • Auto-aim.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Decent hitbox.
    • Good combo potential.
    • Incredibly good stun.
    [C] Fox Fire Disruption
    • High damage.
    • Large hitbox.
    • Slight stun.
    [V] Transformation
    • Decent damage and knockback.
    • The user gains the ability to avoid all basic damage when in the transforming state. (Ex: Godhuman [X] Tap)
      • This move can also be used as a combo breaker, as during the transformation animation, it lets the player negate all damage.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Low cooldowns for a decent range dash that deals damage.
    • Decent hitbox and mobility.
    • Can be used to extend M1 attacks by using it before the final strike.
    • Auto active blue flame damage if grabbed. (Can break Instinct per second if the user has three tails)
    • Has good mobility and combo potential, as it can grab players after doing Godhuman [C].

    Pros (Transformed)
    General
    • Very good mobility.
    • Even higher damage.
    • Can walk on water.
    • Multiple buffs. (Speed, damage, armor)
    • Can carry other players for easier transport.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Great damage.
    • Fast cooldown between attacks.
    • Slight knockback.
    • Deals burn damage per second.
    • Slight stun makes this useful as a close-range combo chainer.
    [Z] Accursed Enchantment
    • Good damage.
    • No end-lag.
    • Good AoE.
    • Decent mobility.
    • Can be invisible at times, making it deadly.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Decent stun.
    • Large AoE if it hits.
    • The user can use this to drag players underwater if they're not the Shark race and deal huge amounts of damage.
    • Decent mobility.
    [C] Fox Fire Disruption
    • Amazing damage.
    • Massive AoE.
    • Extremely long range.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Decent hitbox.
    • Decent mobility.

    Cons (Untransformed)
    General
    • One of the hardest fruits to obtain in the game.
    • All moves mentioned above requires some energy from the Kitsune Tails bar.
    • Only one movement ability (three in Transformation, compensated by speed boost after gaining two tails).
    • Not recommended for hunting sea events.
    • High mastery requirements.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Enemy can use skills while stunned.
    [Z] Accursed Enchantment
    • Below-average damage.
    • Delayed damage and knockback, which can be problematic.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Can bounce off of surroundings resulting in sometimes unpredictable final positions of the opponent or even complete misses.
    • Works best at close range, despite being able to reach medium range.
    • Can easily be dodged with Instinct.
    [C] Fox Fire Disruption
    • Can be dodged if the enemy uses Flash Step or they can simply just dash away.
    [V] Transformation
    • Requires the full bar (3 Tails) in order to transform.
    • Slows the user for a small amount of time.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Hitbox is much smaller than the slash animation.
    • Hard to land since it requires precise aim.

    Cons (Transformed)
    General
    • Needs three tails to transform.
    • Fighting styles, swords, guns cannot be used.
    • The user needs to move instead of staying idle on water in order to not take damage by partially sinking.
    • The user might find it too hard to move inside small areas such as Mansion due to the absurd speed boost.
    • Hard to use against runners / sky campers as only the [C] move has sufficient AoE for such enemies. Untransformed version is recommended for PvP.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Enemy can use skills while stunned.
    [Z] Accursed Enchantment
    • Slight endlag.
    • Can be weird to aim in the air.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Can be quite hard to aim/hit target in PvP.
    • The dash and fire can be dodged with Instinct.
    • This move can force the player underwater if they are not on an island, which can lead to their health being depleted rapidly.
    • Cannot be aimed up or down, meaning the user has to be at the same height in the air as their target for this move to work.
    • When used against a wall with an enemy, the player may glitch through thin walls into undesirable spaces.
    [C] Fox Fire Disruption
    • Can be dodged.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Can unintentionally run into attacks such as Skull Guitar [X].

    Gallery

    Bugs

    • Kitsune's transformed [X] move can glitch through walls.
    • Strangely, upon heavy use of Kitsune, Swords, Guns and Fighting Styles lose their models and [M1] attacks (Likely when two tails are reached).
    • Swapping to a different fruit with a Power Meter while Kitsune is at three Tails will retain the "rainbow" effects on the meter. In some cases, the meter will retain the "1 Tail" UI from Kitsune, carrying it over.
    • If the user has a Health boosting accessory equipped, use their [V] transform, and then unequip the accessory, they will lose Tails as if they had taken damage. The user can repeatedly equip and unequip the accessory to keep depleting their Tails. The same occurs with T-Rex.
    • If the transformed [X] move of Kitsune hits a target standing in front of a wall/sloped surface, it can launch the user absurdly high into the air.
    • If a player is riding on a transformed Kitsune user's back, they can teleport to places they haven’t unlocked as long as the Kitsune user has them unlocked, similar to Love's [F] move.
    • Using Portal [Z] on a transformed Kitsune user with another player riding on top will cause the riding player to die instantly, regardless of whether they are allied with the Portal user or not. The Portal user also receives bounty/honor from the kill.
    • Using Kitsune [X] (transformed) while on water will drag both the user and the target into the water which can be used in a deadly combo if used with a shark race.

    Trivia

    • Kitsune is the second fan-made fruit to be added to the game, with the first being Sound.
      • The original concept was created by @Kuzuryu_Kei (X Handle), one of the winners of the first fan fruit/art contest.
    • Kitsune is currently the second most expensive fruit in the game.
    • Kitsune is the first Beast fruit that allows allied players to mount, the second being Dragon.
    • It is worth noting that Agility (Rabbit's V3 ability) does not have nearly as much effect as when not transformed. While it is noticeable, it is mostly negligible.
    • Despite being based on a nine-tailed fox, Kitsune normally only has three tails and five tails when transformed; this is probably due to the design of the model, although it still has nine tails in the icon.
      • The same happens to Inventory Icon and Physical Fruit, while the Inventory Icon model has 4 tails, Physical Fruit only has 3 tails.
    • When walking whilst using Kitsune with two or more tails, the player animation will shift from crawling on all fours to an upright & happy skipping animation.
    • Kitsune used to have a move called "Tailed Beast Bomb" as its [C] move, which got changed into "Fox Fire Disruption" and the [F] move, "Wild Assault" , was called "Swift Assault" in the fruit's sneak peek.
    • In the fan made design, the [X] move was called "Claws of Burning Agony" which was changed to "Tails of Burning Agony" in the game.
    • A physical Kitsune Fruit can also be obtained at a very low chance (0.1%) by offering Azure Embers to the Kitsune Shrine in the Third Sea.
