KitsuneEmpyrean
ArticleCombos

Empyrean is a Mythical mutation of Kitsune.

The Empyrean version grants the user a slightly modified moveset, notable differences being the M1’s, [Z] Sweeping Firestorm, and transformed [C] Burstfire Cannon abilities. When the Power Meter hits 3 tails, the first three M1’s will gain more range, Similar to Dragon M1’s, and the fourth loses some damage in exchange for a large AoE grab that pulls in nearby opponents. It is slightly better than the normal one.

While untransformed, [Z] Sweeping Firestorm shoots a beam at the cursor, which can be held to deal more damage. When transformed, the Empyrean version of [Z] Sweeping Firestorm has a modified animation compared to Kitsune's [Z] Accursed Enchantment. Additionally, the Empyrean version of [C] Burstfire Cannon is granted a special cutscene unique to the mutation.

Obtainment[]

As a fruit mutation, Empyrean has different obtainment methods compared to ordinary Blox Fruits. Players are able to obtain it in a few ways:

Abilities[]

Name Description Showcase
Empyrean Kitsune Tails
Swift Tails
  • The user can gain tails passively as well as by dealing damage. The user can transform when the tail meter reaches 3 (the meter will turn rainbow when the user has max tails). The meter will decrease if the user uses an ability and misses (this includes Kitsune's M1s, but these consume less of the tails meter than other abilities).
The tails meter shown above the moveset.

2 tails

3 tails

3 tails

Transformed Energy
  • After transforming, the user will slowly drain one third of the tail meter (doesn't passively drain) and will slowly drain if the user takes any type of damage (including lava and water). The user will not passively gain any tail meter while transformed and can only increase the meter by dealing damage with Kitsune (including Kitsune's tick damage).
Tails
  • 1 Tail: No known benefits.
  • 2 Tails: The user gets a speed boost (+100% [2x]) and a dash boost and now runs on all fours. (Air jumping, dashing, and walking will also now have a unique animation)
  • 3 Tails: The user gets three glowing orbs floating around them, and when using the [F] move or an M1 attack, the enemy will deal tick damage by red flames. The DoT effect lasts for 3 seconds, dealing 1 tick of damage every second. Fourth [M1] gets a slightly different visual. First 3 M1s gain extended reach represented by three flaming slashes that are thrown foward, this is exclusive of the Empyrean Kitsune.

Note: This passive does not increase the user's damage in any way.

Heavenly Fox Fur
While transformed, the user gains a 20% damage reduction from all sources, improved attacks, reduced cooldowns, faster speed, jump twice higher than average, and increased dash distance.
EmpyreanKitsune
Clever Fox's Spirit
When transformed, the user gains the ability to run on Water, but they are not able to idle on it.
Empyrean Kitsune Water Walking Trasformed
Empyrean Mount
When transformed, the user can be mounted by another allied player, via their saddle.

Empyrean Kitsune m1 ground version
Empyrean Kitsune m1 aerial version
The user slashes the air, creating red flame slashes that fly foward. On the fourth slash, the user swipes in a whirlwind style, grabbing any enemies in an extended range into one spot, this move does severely reduced damage to compensate. The last slash has two variations; on the ground, the user swipes downwards, leaving a faint crack for a few moments. In the air, the user kicks the opponent to the ground (Both variations deal the same amount of damage). Once at 3 tails, the slashes will inflict ticking damage and the opponent will be covered in red flames for between 4-5 seconds and the base damage will increase too. Every slash drains the Tails meter by a bit. Jumping right before the final slam or using the M1’s in the air will make the user perform a slash instead of a slam. This attack consumes 7.5% of the visible Tails meter if all 5 M1s are used.

Empyrean Kitsune Sweeping Firestorm not held
Empyrean Kitsune Sweeping Firestorm held version
This move has two distinct variants:
  • If not held:
    • The user fires a short red fire beam that deals low damage to the target.
  • If held:
    • The user creates a rotating ring of red letters (similar to Fox Lamp Z Move) before firing a red fire beam that deals high damage. (Note: the beam and explosion have separate and equal damage. Both still can deal damage at the same time)
    • This ability can be aimed, however, moves slowly.

    • If Held:
      • The user swiftly dashes forwards, and if they come into contact with an enemy, it will initiate a cutscene in which the user fires a large energy ball at the enemy from point blank range. Overview[]

    Pros (Untransformed)
    General
    • Has one of the highest value in trading, only being obtainable for a very short period of time.
    • Great movement speed if above 2 Tails.
    • Passive can break Instinct.
    • High damage.
    • Long stuns.
    • Works well in both ground and air combat.
    • Virtually all moves are AoE/multi-target, which, combined with the M1 attacks, gives Kitsune some of the best grinding capabilities in the game.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Outstanding range for an M1, especially if the user has reached 3 Tails.
    • Decent grab. Even though it has less comparable damage than the default Kitsune, its 4th attack can be useful for crowd control.
    • Fast cooldown between attacks.
    • Slight knockback.
    • Slight stun makes this useful as a close-range combo chainer.
    • Deals tick damage that can break Instinct when 3 tails are acquired.
    [Z] Sweeping Firestorm
    • Breaks Instinct.
    • No end-lag.
    • Wide hitbox.
    • Held version has absurdly high amounts of damage while being uninterruptable once successfully triggered.
    • Long range.
    • Even the beam is undodgeable.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Decent hitbox.
    • Good combo potential.
    • Incredibly good stun.
    [C] Burstfire Cannon
    • High damage.
    • Large hitbox.
    • Slight stun.
    • Quick release, allowing it to be a solid combo starter.
    • Gives burn damage if on the ground.
    [V] Transformation
    • Decent damage and knockback.
    • The user gains the ability to avoid all basic damage when in the transforming state. (Ex: Godhuman [X] Tap)
      • This move can also be used as a combo breaker, as during the transformation animation, it lets the player negate all damage.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Low cooldown for a decent range dash that deals damage.
    • Decent hitbox and mobility.
    • Can be used to extend M1 attacks by using it before the final strike.
    • The Blue Flames passive is automatically active upon grabbing an enemy once the user has gained 3 tails.
    • Has good mobility and combo potential, as it can grab enemies after performing a move like Godhuman [C].

    Pros (Transformed)
    General
    • Very good mobility.
    • Even higher damage.
    • Can walk on water.
    • Multiple buffs. (Speed, damage, armor)
    • Can carry other players for easier transport.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Great damage.
    • Fast cooldown between attacks.
    • Slight knockback.
    • Deals burn damage per second.
    • Slight stun makes this useful as a close-range combo chainer.
    [Z] Sweeping Firestorm
    • Good damage.
    • No end-lag.
    • Good AoE.
    • Decent mobility.
    • Empyrean's version (if hit) brings enemies closer and makes combo extension easier.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Decent stun.
    • Large AoE if it hits.
    • The user can use this to drag players underwater if they're not the Shark race and deal huge amounts of damage.
    • Decent mobility.
    [C] Burstfire Cannon
    • Amazing damage.
    • Massive AoE.
    • Extremely long range.
    • Held version's cutscene gives immunity to the user.
    • Little to no windup.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Decent hitbox.
    • Decent mobility.

    Cons (Untransformed)
    General
    • Even though Empyrean's Z move gives the fruit more overall range, it makes the user vulnerable to counters, so the user could get countered by fruits like Tiger, Dragon, Lightning and even its normal version; Kitsune.
    • One of the rarest and hardest skins/mutation to obtain, but gives permanent reusability once eaten.
    • All moves take up some energy from the Tails meter.
    • Only one movement ability (four in Transformation, compensated by speed boost after gaining two tails).
    • High mastery requirements. And is separated from the normal Kitsune's mastery.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Enemy can use skills while stunned.
    • Empyrean m1 attacks above 3 Tails no longer actively grabs like its default version, possibly making this move less effective.
    [Z] Sweeping Firestorm
    • Tap version has one of the lowest damages of all moves, (accommodated by the held version being one of the most damaging).
    • Has noticeable windup.
    • Held version is slow to aim and causes strong knockbacks, making it difficult to utilize all of the move's damage.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Can bounce off of surroundings resulting in sometimes unpredictable final positions of the opponent or even complete misses.
    • Works best at close range, despite being able to reach medium range.
    • Can easily be dodged with Instinct.
    [C] Burstfire Cannon
    • Can be dodged if the enemy uses Flash Step or they can simply just dash away.
    • Most of the damage can be dodged with Instinct.
    • Small grab hitbox.
    [V] Transformation
    • Requires the full bar (3 Tails) in order to transform.
    • Slows the user for a small amount of time.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Hitbox is much smaller than the slash animation.
    • Hard to land since it requires precise aim.

    Cons (Transformed)
    General
    • Needs three tails to transform.
    • Fighting styles, swords, guns cannot be used.
    • The user needs to move instead of staying idle on water in order to not take damage by partially sinking.
    • The user might find it too hard to move inside small areas such as Mansion due to the absurd speed boost.
    • Hard to use against runners / sky campers as only the [C] move has sufficient AoE for such enemies. Untransformed version is recommended for PvP.
    • Hard to use in the air.
    [TAP] Normal Attack
    • Enemy can use skills while stunned.
    [Z] Sweeping Firestorm
    • Slight endlag.
    • Can be weird to aim in the air.
    • Stuns the user, leaving them vulnerable to outside attacks.
    [X] Tails of Burning Agony
    • Can be quite hard to aim/hit target in PvP.
    • The dash and fire can be dodged with Instinct.
    • This move can force the player underwater if they are not on an island, which can lead to their health being depleted rapidly.
    • Cannot be aimed up or down, meaning the user has to be at the same height in the air as their target for this move to work.
    • When used against a wall with an enemy, the player may glitch through thin walls into undesirable spaces.
    [C] Burstfire Cannon
    • Held version has windup, requires precise aim to land, and consumes a huge amount of Tails bar.
    • Held version does not recover Tails meter.
    • The cutscene can cause lag to the user.
    [F] Wild Assault
    • Can unintentionally run into attacks such as Skull Guitar [X].

    Trivia[]

    • The word "Empyrean" is derived from greek origins (en - pur) and translates to "in fire"
    • With 3 tails, the M1’s of the fruit at max tails lets off slash like projectile into a spin with grabbing hands.
    • The [Z] Sweeping Firestorm (held) can instantly kill a max level player without buffs if it is fully directed.
    • It is easier to damage laggy players with [Z] Sweeping Firestorm as their hitbox has delay and doesn't easily move.
    • Kitsune's first three M1 attacks actively grab and stun enemies, so even while the user is moving, the target/s will move along, though this is not the case for Empyrean as once it reaches 3 tails or transformed. Instead, the Empyrean's first three M1 attacks function like Dragon's M1, pushing enemies forward.
    • The transformed [C] Burstfire Cannon (held) cannot regenerate the Tails meter, despite it being the most damaging transformed move.
    • On the 6th day of the 2025 Christmas Event, Empyrean was silently updated and its transformed [C] Burstfire Cannon move now has the option for the normal ranged move by tapping it (identical to the normal Kitsune but with red flames), although transformed [Z] Sweeping Firestorm was nerfed and now it temporarily disables the user from using any move while using [Z] Sweeping Firestorm.
    • When the player reaches 3 tails, the fruit's M1's do significantly less damage than the ones seen on 1 and 2 tails. Though it is compensated by the fact that their range is significantly enhanced.
    • Empyrean is the first mutation to have a skin.
    • Despite being a 'Mutation', Empyrean essentially outperforms Kitsune in almost all aspects.

    Bugs[]

    • Empyrean (transformed) appeared larger than normal Kitsune (transformed) for a short while before being fixed to be the normal size.

    Change History[]

    Released in Update 29

    Update 29
    • Empyrean was released.
    • Added Galaxy skin.
    • Empyrean was rebalanced.
      • Transformed [Z] Sweeping Firestorm now has endlag.
      • Transformed [C] Burstfire Cannon now has a projectile variant (identical to the normal Kitsune but with red flames) when tapped.
