The Ancient One (also known as Red Head Essence) is an NPC that was introduced in Update 17 Part 3. It is necessary to interact with it in order to obtain Gears, which are used to obtain Race V4 Abilities by fitting them into the Ancient Clock.
Location[]
This NPC is located at the Temple of Time, which can be accessed by speaking to the Mysterious Force NPC on top of Great Tree. After pulling the lever, the player can access the Trial Rooms. The Ancient One can be found near the bookshelf and right near the stairs leading to the Ancient Clock.
Requirements[]

- Stage 1: No training required
- Stage 2: 3 minutes in V4
- Stage 3: 5 minutes in V4
- Stage 4: 3 training courses (4, 5, 10 minutes) in V4
- Stage 5: 5 training courses (8, 10, 13, 15, 18 minutes) in V4
- Each minute in V4 can also be replaced by 1 V4 activation.

Trivia[]
- This NPC looks quite similar to the Frozen Watcher, the only difference being that the Ancient One is red.
- If the player has not unlocked Race V4 yet, it will say "You have yet to achieve greatness."
- After the player gets the first gear, it will say "So you have awakened that old clock...I have no need for it, I'll sell it to you for 1,000"
- After the player does the final trial and upgrade, it will say "It seems you've made this power your own. I've done all I can for you."
- If the player didn't talk to the Ancient One after placing their gear, they can do the trial again. However, the player won't be able to get another gear.
