I’d like to share MY canon for the Sea of Treats islands. As a note before you read, it won’t be One-Piece related; it is an entirely original story I made up when the hat from Cake Queen’s boss room was removed.
Long before the arrival of the Queen of the Pirates, the Sea of Treats was a chain of winter islands, isolated at the furthest end of the Third Sea. Many endemic species called the islands home, with the Yeti taking on human nature and building a civilisation. The Yetis thrived in peace, with their frost powers coming handy in day-to-day life, such as building bridges between islands for imports.
All was well, until the Queen of the Pirates came to shore, immediately pillaging the Yeti folk and driving all endemic species to near extinction. The last surviving Yeti planted it’s power into the tree of life in the hopes that future generations can discover it before fleeing to the 1st sea powerless. Though the Last Yeti sacrificed it’s icy powers, it would pay off as the power of the Yeti would branch into 3 different physical forms: Ice (the simplest form, providing similar water-walking abilities), Blizzard (a more powerful and destructive form that holds the ability to turn islands to winter) and of course, the Yeti (the most honed-in form of the Yetifolk’s powers, gifting the user a transformation that is near-identical the Yeti that once roamed the Sea of Treats).
Back at the Sea of Treats island however, the Queen of the Pirates decided to take in new interests, the discovery of Buddies. After her great sword had absorbed the power of a mysterious spirit, it became overwhelmingly powerful, capable of blasting lightning so powerful it can shake islands. As such, she became obsessed with the idea of spiritual beings, which she dubbed as ‘Buddies’. She would later decorate the entirety of the Sea of Treats with sweets, using the island’s natural cold as a refrigerator, as offerings to these buddies. Her obsession grew so large that the Queen of the Pirates discarded her title to pursue her new ideals, becoming the Cake Queen and forcing her men to become ‘food people’.
Little did she know that the power of her Buddy Sword came from a primordial fruit that could summon spirits on command...
